They are the European-English releases of the 1st edition starter deck cards Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician, both graded by BGS to be in Gem Mint condition. These cards were printed for Europe, and therefore have a totally different print quality than their North-American counterparts. Specifically, they reflect light differently than the “glossy” cards we are used to. I don’t know how to explain it except to say that they look like a cross between glossy and wavy (but more glossy than wavy), with a uniquely reflective surface. They definitely stand out. Most importantly, these European holos are more difficult to find than their North American versions, especially in gem mint condition. If you try your best to find these cards even in mint condition, you will have a very hard time because of how they were printed. The print quality can best be described as “brittle” meaning that the edges and corners were especially vulnerable to flaking or wear. Even putting them in sleeves could damage them as they slide in. For that reason, these are the only European prints of Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician that have ever been preserved with a grade of GEM MINT from Beckett, making them each a population of 1. There simply is no other such set anywhere to be found. They would be a special complement to any high-end collection, or even as standalone showpieces. Either way, this set is a masterpiece in its own right, featuring the 2 most recognizable monsters in YuGiOh with their classic artworks in all their glory.
