Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful antique Chinese blue and white jardinière decorated with five-toed dragons chasing “flaming” pearls. Design encompasses the entire body of the jardinière with the blue painted background having a mottled effect. The jardiniere has an unglazed foot ring with recessed base marked with two old wax stamps and calligraphy markings. We are unfamiliar with the markings, however, the mark is under the glaze. Measures 7″ high with a top diameter of 7 1/2″, maximum width of about 9″ with the base measuring 6 3/4″ in diameter. This nice jardiniere is in excellent Estate condition commensurate with age and normal wear. There is one very small “crease” in the body on the upper rim and several “rust” specks from the firing process of production throughout the body. There are also several “rust” spots in the white area above the outside rim. There are no chips, cracks or repairs on this amazing piece. Please see all photos as part of the description. We are not experts in Asian antiques so we can not date this piece accurately, however, we do believe it to be mid-19th Century or earlier.
