I’m very excited to share with all of you one of the most spectacular YuGiOh collectibles I’ve ever come across, this gem mint 1st edition wavy Blue-Eyes White Dragon, one of only about 18 such wavy gems ever graded by PSA (according to record-keeping done by a PSA employee and collector). But there is something even more special about this one in particular: It has a unique shade of color and it has a lowered name, both of which are rare and sought-after print variations that appear almost exclusively in the wavy-cardstock of the first ever set, Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon (LOB). The card’s hue is right in that sweet spot where it has an antique look without overdoing it, while the lowered name is additionally distinguishing in its own right. There are competing ideas about how these print variants came to be, but whatever the cause is, they were likely among the first of the first printings of LOB (though there is as yet no hard evidence). Either way, the color and lowered name give this card a serious vintage feel, making it stand out as a true relic from the most early beginnings of the YuGiOh TCG. To have this shade of color on a wavy Blue-Eyes is magnificent enough, but to also have a lowered name, strong centering, and gem mint certification is something I would have never expected to see, let alone own. Without a doubt this is one of the most stunning cards I’ve ever graded, and quite possibly the most impressive LOB Blue-Eyes White Dragon currently in existence. Notably, a wavy PSA 10 Blue-Eyes very seldom goes for sale on the market because of the low supply that stems from the massive disparity between wavy and glossy versions, as well as because of collectors’ unwillingness to part ways. That being said, I’m not in a rush to sell mine, either. If you are not in the market for the most high-end Blue-Eyes out there, then I sincerely hope you have at least enjoyed your stay and relished in the nostalgia.
